Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday night confirming they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of the player specifically in their statement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice directly, shared a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the initial part of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people hurt. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, Rice finished the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
