The former Liverpool manager states a return to coach Liverpool is theoretically possible.

Jurgen Klopp, who departed from Anfield in 2024, has suggested that rejoining the club remains a possibility. The 58-year-old, following a hugely successful nine-year spell that included Champions League success and the Premier League crown in 30 years, now holds roles as head of global soccer for Red Bull and as an advisor with the German Football League.

Fan Sentiment and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

They secured the league title under Arne Slot, but many fans who adore the manager would be thrilled by the possibility that he might come back one day. In a wide-ranging interview, he shared with the podcast host: “I said I won't manage another team within the country. Therefore in case it's my former club...yeah. It's plausible.”

“At 58 years old, so I could make the decision later on, it's uncertain. Is a decision required immediately? If so, I wouldn't return. But thank God, I don’t have to do that. I'll wait and observe what lies ahead.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

Pressed on which situations would need to occur to bring him back to the dugout, he revealed he was not instantly drawn toward coming back. “It's unclear to me, My present work fulfills me,” he stated. “I don't crave being a coach; No desire to be during downpours for lengthy sessions; I don’t miss going to media briefings multiple times weekly or having 10-12 interviews each week.

“The locker room isn't missed per se, but sitting in a restaurant with the team having a nice chat, I appreciate that. We won a lot of games meaning regularly positive atmosphere around the place. I can still hear Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh vividly recalled for example.”

Praise for His Successor

He spoke highly for his successor, praising him for the adjustments that won the league last term. The team has suffered four in a row in every contest following significant transfers, yet he dismissed the idea of it representing a slump.

“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker like Florian Wirtz, doubters will be silenced if you use the wrong words. An outstanding player. The French striker, excellent performer. They have a strong balanced team. Fans shouldn't fret over the club, things will improve.”

Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward

Klopp also spoke emotionally on the loss of Diogo Jota, a player he signed during his tenure, and its impact for the team. The forward died tragically in a car crash with his brother recently.

“Who can fill the void of a person like him? It’s not about his footballing ability, it's his character. I struggle to conceive the team environment missing him. Putting it into words is tough on this topic. A devastating blow for all the boys also. Not a single person would cite it to justify results yet it's the reality. Being in that space which he filled completely. Handling this emotionally is difficult. Impossible.”
